PA Historical Marker Approved for St. Nicholas Croatian Church, N.S.

The application that PCHF submitted in December 2013 for a Pennsylvania Historical Marker, designating St. Nicholas R.C. Croatian Church North Side as “The First Croatian Parish in the Western Hemisphere” has been approved. It is one of 21 new markers approved by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. The familiar blue with gold lettering sign, which are seen across the Commonwealth, will be placed to the right of the new seating area of the trail memorialization project that PennDOT is scheduled to complete in late fall of 2014. The actual location will be situated where the main altar was located. A dedication ceremony will take place in late fall. More information will be announced as it becomes available.
